Forankra dock bumpers, protecting your loading docks

Are your loading docks being damaged by truck loading? Are you worried that the building might eventually suffer? Forankra offers a wide range of galvanized steel dock bumpers and rubber dock bumpers, suitable for all traffic levels.

What are the advantages of dock bumpers?

A dock bumper is a protective device fixed to the loading dock. Its purpose? To absorb shocks when the truck or heavy goods vehicle reverses towards the dock. The bumper acts as a buffer between the trailer and the dock. It dissipates the impact energy and protects the building, the dock, and the vehicle.

What are the different types of dock bumpers?

Galvanized Steel Dock Bumper (Forankra BUTDOCK Range)

The Forankra BUTDOCK range combines a galvanized steel impact plate with integrated rubber shock absorbers housed in a metal casing. This design combines the strength of steel with the shock absorption of rubber.

The Rubber Dock Bumper: The Solution for Light Traffic

The high-density rubber bumper is suitable for sites with low to medium traffic, typically a maximum of 5 dockings per day. The flexible material absorbs moderate impacts.

Two versions are available: the standard rubber bumper, which can be fixed or bolted directly to the dock; and the rubber bumper with a back plate, which provides reinforced mounting thanks to a pre-drilled metal plate.

The little extra?

All loading dock bumpers come with a 3-year warranty.

What are the dimensions of the dock bumpers?

• BUTDOCK range dimensions: Width 100 to 250 mm depending on the model. Thickness 90 to 130 mm. Weight 25 to 42 kg.

• Recommended mounting height: Between 400 and 500 mm from the loading dock floor. This height is suitable for most heavy goods vehicles.

• Spacing between bumpers: To be adapted to the widths of the loading dock and/or the door. This distance corresponds to the spacing of the rear uprights of semi-trailers. To center the vehicle, we recommend using wheel guides to facilitate this operation.

How do I install a dock bumper?

The dock bumper is installed on a concrete or steel dock. It is secured by bolting using anchors appropriate for the substrate. This installation ensures a durable anchor.

• Installation of the BUTDOCK Forankra range: Only one installer is required. The mounting holes are pre-drilled on the base plate. The bumper is positioned at the recommended height (400 to 500 mm), leveled, and then permanently fixed to the loading dock. All installation instructions are available upon request.

How to choose a dock bumper?

The choice of a dock bumper depends on several criteria related to the type of dock, the frequency of use, and the constraints of the logistics site:

• Fewer than 5 maneuvers/day → Rubber bumper

• 6 or more maneuvers/day → BUTDOCK 100 or 130

• High-roof vehicles → Version with driver's side extension

• Operators on the dock → Safe haven kit

Questions fréquentes - Butoirs de quai

Dock safety is governed by the French Labour Code (articles R 233-45 and R 235-3.1.5). These articles require that dock layouts guarantee the protection of employees and minimize the risk of accidents.

Forankra has a network of distributors for its dock bumpers. The products benefit from fast delivery throughout France and internationally.

The choice depends on the frequency of use. A rubber bumper for fewer than 5 maneuvers per day, the BUTDOCK 100 for 6 or more maneuvers per day, and the BUTDOCK 130 for more than 20 maneuvers per day. For docks with operators, the BUTDOCK 130 XXL with integrated refuge area is recommended.
