The optimization of cargo space in transport fleets relies on double-deck solutions for trucks. Designed for professionals in the transport industry, these systems increase usable space while helping to secure cargo, reduce the carbon footprint, and lower fuel consumption.

FAQ – Double Floor System for Vans

What is a double floor system for vans?

A double floor system is an interior fit-out solution that adds a second loading level to a vehicle. It relies on rails mounted to the walls and sliding support beams, thereby doubling the usable floor space and utilizing the full height of the van.

What is the Forankra XTRADECK system used for?

The XTRADECK system significantly increases a vehicle’s cargo capacity by creating an additional modular deck. It facilitates the transport of non-stackable goods, improves route profitability, and contributes to better logistics organization. This double-deck solution is PIEK-compliant, significantly reducing noise pollution for operators and nearby residents (e.g., loading and unloading in city centers).

What loading capacity can be achieved with a double deck?

A system like XTRADECK can double loading capacity, for example from 33 to 66 pallets depending on the vehicle configuration (while complying with traffic regulations and the vehicle’s total weight limit).

Is the system adjustable to accommodate different loading needs?

Yes, the beams slide along side AERO rails, allowing you to adjust the height and layout of the load based on the goods being transported. This modularity offers great operational flexibility.

What are the different configurations available?

Several configurations are available to adapt to the technical constraints of the vehicles:

  • Surface-mounted (DPA): rails mounted directly on the walls, ideal for dry vans
  • Recessed or semi-recessed rails (ATD): recessed into the wall, particularly suitable for refrigerated vehicles

What loads can the beams of the double-deck system support?

Two load-bearing capacities are generally available:

  • Standard version: up to 1,000 daN
  • Heavy-duty version: up to 1,300 daN
  • Offset version, which allows for increased load height

Does the double deck improve transport profitability?

Yes, it directly contributes to economic performance by:

  • Reducing the number of trips required
  • Optimizing load factor
  • Reducing fuel consumption per pallet transported
  • Increasing overall operational productivity

Does the double deck allow for the transport of non-stackable pallets?

Yes, this is one of its main advantages. The second level allows for the loading of fragile or non-stackable pallets without risk of damage.
