For professionals who load and unload their utility vehicles or vans every day, a reliable aluminum loading ramp makes all the difference. Lightweight, sturdy, and designed to withstand the rigors of the job site, Altec France ramps allow you to safely load floor scrubbers, hand trucks, carts, motorcycles, ATVs, or any other wheeled equipment. This range includes removable, fixed, and foldable models to cover all uses: mobile tradespeople, transporters, maintenance technicians, equipment rental companies, private individuals, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions - Loading Ramps for Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) and Vans

Which loading ramp is best for a light commercial vehicle (LCV)?

The choice of ramp depends on the application within the LCV and the frequency of use. Generally, a single AOS ramp or a pair of AOS ramps covers three-quarters of needs, but RRK and RRD ramps are also popular for their ease of use.

Is a single ramp sufficient, or should they be used in pairs?

Rail ramps (AVS, AOS, AWR) are generally used in pairs to guide the wheels, particularly when loading lawn tractors, ATVs, or tracked vehicles. Full-width models (RAS-W, ABS), consisting of a single surface, are particularly well-suited for loading equipment such as pallet jacks, floor scrubbers, or motorcycles. The choice depends on the type of equipment to be loaded.

How do you determine the required ramp length?

The ideal length depends on the vehicle’s floor height and the maximum slope of the vehicle being loaded. As a general rule, a maximum slope of 25% is recommended.

Fixed or removable ramp: which solution is right for your van?

The removable ramp is the most versatile solution: it fits multiple vehicles, stores easily, and does not alter the van’s structure. The AOS and AOH models are among the most commonly used for this purpose.

Which model should you choose based on the type of equipment to be loaded?

  • Hand trucks and pallet jacks: AVS / AHF / AOS wide-width ramp or AHF 750 ramp
  • Scrubbers: RRK / RRD models
  • For scooters: AOH / AOS
  • Quads, lawn mowers, motorcycles: standard or extra-wide AOS ramp, reinforced non-slip surface, or AVS model
  • Equipment: RRK or RRD ramp
